Relays

Ok so I am going to be honest. I don't really like relays. As an athlete I think they are fun and great but as a coach I am not a fan. Why you might ask? It does not follow our MAX rule!!

I think they can have a place as a fun activity OR when when used properly if you are trying to train the anaerobic alactic system.  I don't think that is always the case though!

Here are some fun relays that you can use if you want to!

Add on Relays

Ages 10+, 8+ People

Water Activity

Random pool equipment

Add on relays are lots of fun and can be done 2 different ways. For both of them you have the divide the group into two teams first:

1. Adding on Objects.

The concept is simple. The first person carries one object, the second person carries the first object PLUS a second object. The third person carries the two objects plus a third. And so on and so forth! Be creative with the objects.

2. Adding on People

The first person swims one lap. The first person attachs to the second person and they swim the second lap together. The third person attaches to the first and second person and they swim the third lap together. And so on and so forth!
